Before you get a quote for income protection, you should check you are eligible for cover. Provided you meet all our eligibility criteria, you can get an income protection quote online straight away. Income protection eligibility criteria
On the policy commencement date you must:

be aged between 18-64
-
live permanently in the UK
-
be working (not self-employed) for at least 16 hours per week, or on statutory maternity or paternity leave

have applied for cover and agreed to pay the monthly premium
If you are absent from work when your income protection starts due to an accident or illness, your cover will not be effective immediately. Your accident and sickness cover will start for new conditions when you have returned to work for a continuous period of at least 30 days.
The policy does not cover you for any period of unemployment that you knew to be impending when you took out the policy, or within 30 days of taking out the policy, whether or not you have received official notice.
